Welcome Friday, and welcome friend!
I'm psyched about our #FridayFrivolity theme this week! Drum roll please! It is... Children's television programming!
First of all, we have to get one thing out of the way. Did ANYONE out there watch Zoobilee Zoo?
I think this was my #1 favorite show as a kid in the '80s. It looks pretty trippy at a glance and is quite hard to explain to somebody who hasn't seen it. I've tried. It usually goes like this. "So, all these people are dressed up as animals, and they sing and dance and do all these magical things, and travel to other lands, like Rhyme Land and Bubble Land, on what looks like a magical floating subway train, and it's awesome." At which point I get a blank, unimpressed stare from whoever I'm talking to! ;P But it was a fun and imaginative show and it was pretty cutting edge for the '80s too... I would totally watch these all over again with my own kids some day even though the quality of the clips on youtube is TERRIBLE.
----------------
Mr. Rogers was another favorite of mine... have you all seen the "Garden of Your Mind remix"? It's probably the nerdy teacher in me, but this video seriously gives me goose bumps! It's going to be stuck in my head for literally days now of course... "you can grow ideaaaaaas in the garden of your MIND!"
--------------
I also was pretty obsessed with the reruns of The Monkees... apparently slapstick humor was totally my style as a kid.
I clearly had eclectic tastes, right? ;P
Now on to the link-up! :D
Featured Post from Last Week:
In a fun twist, since we now have four hosts we will also have FOUR FEATURES.... but you will have to go check out the other three blogs to see if you were featured there! ;)
"Let's Talk About Shoes" by Jodie's Touch of Style -- I always love Jodie's fashion sense, and I really appreciated how she defies the conventional "women of a certain age shouldn't wear such-and-such." I hate that kind of mindset! I think that women should wear the clothes and shoes that make them feel happy and confident... a case Jodie argues quite well in this post! ;) Check it out for some great shoe style inspiration as well...!
