Imagine me breathlessly dashing off this blog post, because I am SO BEHIND on everything... this past month has been a whirlwind! Here's the good, the bad, and the ugly...
The Good:
My family has successfully moved into our new house / city / state! That is, if by "successfully" I mean "most rooms are half way functional," which is definitely how I'm defining it in this moment. Nothing actually LOOKS good yet, and it takes forever to find anything still because we're not organized in the slightest, but we're making progress.
Huge thanks to my sweet and hardworking husband who did a bunch of unpacking while I was away...
... on an amazing ten day vacation with my extended family to Maine and Canada! I'm kind of obsessed with both those places now, PS... gorgeous! It was a fantastic break from all the moving craziness, and included lots of nutty family fun with my parents / cousins / grandmother / aunt and uncle. Photos coming soon, presuming I can get those assorted family members to clear the "photo rights". ;P
The Bad:
My husband didn't get to come with me on the trip because he had JUST started his new job (remember, new house / city / state? yep, totally his fault awesome new opportunity we're thankful for! *innocent*).
That was lame.
The Ugly:
After getting back from the awesome 10 day family trip, my husband and the dogs and I all loaded up in the car and road tripped to Asheville to visit college friends for the 4th.<--- 4th="" all="" and="" asheville="" car="" college="" crazy="" d="" dogs="" enough="" font="" friends.="" had="" headed="" husband="" i="" into="" lately...="" me="" moving="" my="" nbsp="" of="" ou="" piled="" right="" spend="" the="" think="" to="" weekend="" with="">--->
No, that part is NOT the "ugly" part, it was a lot of fun...
Tubing on the French Broad! Boardgames and hiking!
...but it would have messed up the flow of the post to put that part in the "good" section, and I'm in too much of a rush to rearrange, ha!
I'm getting to the Ugly part, but this paragraph doesn't qualify either... y'all know my amazing bloggy pal Syncopated Mama, right?? She cohosts #FridayFrivolity so I KNOW you know her, and if you don't you should hop over and introduce yourself because she's funny and creative and pretty much the best... she happened to be near Asheville herself over that weekend, so we met up to hike at Devil's Courthouse. SO gorgeous there and I had such a fun time hanging out with her!
BUT our car was broken into while we were there, smash and grab style, and my bag with my wallet and keys was stolen.
UGLY right??
We ended up having to spend another night in Asheville trying to figure out fixing the broken window, then driving back home to Charlotte with the window taped because the door frame needed repairs too, THEN having to figure out insurance, replacement IDs, credit cards, etc etc etc.
And the drivers license that was stolen from me was my TEXAS license, so for a minute I was all like, "oh that's okay, I needed a NC license anyway..." only to realize that now I was going to have to take the NC drivers' test from start to finish because I didn't have an old license to surrender to them. Ha!
Blast from the past much?? Flashbacks to awkward 16 year old Sarah Eliza blanking on the written drivers' test.... I mean, seriously, can any of the rest of you identify the yellow circle caution sign MINUS the writing, just off the top of your head? How about the sideways-triangle yellow sign?
Bonus points if you do know either of those from memory, haha!

I have some very funny anecdotes from that whole Series of Unfortunate Events to share later, including me wielding some serious Jedi Mind Powers, AND a whole separate Series of Unfortunate Events around moving into our new rental a month ago. Let's just say, I was REALLY ready for that lovely ten day vacation by the end of it, and a couple of problems with the house STILL aren't resolved today.
Thanks a lot, New Landlady. *rolls eyes*

ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah, for inviting me to the party!! So sorry to hear about your car being broke into and having to take a test again. I could never pass it in today's world, lol, so I feel for ya. Have a better weekend!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness! that was the good, the bad and the ugly taken to a whole new level! Some fabulous stuff and exciting stuff but a real bummer about the handbag and wallet and keys - and drivers test!!
ReplyDeleteWow, you do have a lot going on! Good luck with the moving and so sorry to hear that your car was broken into. That's too bad that now you have to do your drivers licence again, I'd be furious!!! Thanks for hosting anyway and wishing you a nice weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteTHanks for hosting, sorry Im late rolling by this week.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
I'm sorry your car got broken into. If you leave anything inside a car anymore someone is going to break the window to get to it. It's awful.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day. ☺
Oh, no!! Sarah Eliza! That's wonderful! That's awful! That's awful!
ReplyDeleteGood, bad, and ugly, right??)
As long as you can use the bathroom, you'll make it!
Hang in there!
I love that you and Lisa got together. If any of you are in Southern California you have to promise to come visit me!
ReplyDeleteCrazy, beautiful, fun life. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great weekend.
Hi, Sarah! How fun to get a chance to meet up with Lisa! How horrible about your car and wallet though. I'm glad you had a fun time visiting family, and congrats on the new house and move. I'm trying to catch up on so many things as well, and I missed your party this week. Will try to link up this week! Hope you have an amazing week :)
ReplyDeleteOh my Gosh! Adulthood is NOT for whimps! lol Hoping this week is MUCH better for you!
ReplyDeleteCan you tell that I'm STILL working my way through all my emails from being gone? ;) I'm glad I got to be part of the "good" and not the "bad" or "ugly" :D And can I just remind you again of how proud I am of how calmly you handled the whole situation? (I'm still mourning your hat, btw, not to mention your cool bag...) And Audrey, maybe Sarah and I will have to take a girl's road trip someday...get ready for us!
