Spread Some Love with Free Printable Valentine's Day Cards - #FridayFrivolity

Free Printable Valentines for Grown-Ups (non-sketchy!) -- funny, sweet, thoughtful Valentines for friends, family, or the mail person -- spread some love this Valentine's Day! via Devastate Boredom

Hello Friday, and Hello friends!

This week is all things love and romance and red and pink at the #FridayFrivolity link-up... but rather than a funny post, I decided to put a little different spin on it.

There is a lot of uncertainty and negativity bouncing around our country and world at the moment, and I think it would be kind of nice to balance it out, in some tiny way, with a little deliberate thoughtfulness.  :)

Let's start a Spread Some Love Valentines' Day movement this year, with thoughtful notes and sweet greetings for folks we care about!

#FridayFrivolity New Year's Resolutions 2017

#FridayFrivolity New Year's Resolutions

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you all had a joyful holiday season and are gearing up for a fulfilling, progress-filled 2017.  Our theme at #FridayFrivolity this week is New Year's Resolutions... perfect timing, right??

I posted periodically last year on specific goals / resolutions, but while I think goals can be useful even if they aren't met in their entirety or quite on time -- yay progress in any form! -- 2017 is going to require a pretty big shift in gears for me.  (More on that very soon! 😜 )  Given that, I tried to think more holistically about the changes that are coming, and the things I would like to achieve, and went from there.

If I were to pick one word to define my goals for the coming year, I think it would be "intention."  Y'all know I'm all about living with intention!  ;P  But I think that purposeful-ness will be even more important for me in 2017.  I am so excited to see all the adventures this year will bring!

Anybody else excited about October??  October was always one of my favorite months growing up because it was the month of birthdays (my own, my younger brother's, and my dad's) and also the month of Halloween!  Actually, we didn't really celebrate Halloween when I was a kid, but our church always had a Harvest Festival that was pretty much the best thing ever... basically a fair where all the games were free.  And we still all got to dress up so... free fair in costumes??  Kid paradise!

This post is going to multi-task a little bit and serve as both my long-promised new installment of inspirational printables AND a review of monthly goals... since clearly we will accomplish more goals when we are motivated and inspired, I hope it will be an acceptable combo.  ;)

The Magical Brew -- COFFEE! Printables and #FridayFrivolity Fun

Hello Friday, and hello friends!

The theme at this week's #FridayFrivolity is that most magical of brews... coffee!

Lately I've been working hard on some new inspirational printables to share with y'all (coming TOMORROW, whaaaaaat!) so I guess it was natural that my mind went immediately to a funny slogan I had on my kitchen wall in my last apartment... "but first, coffee."  Since I have moved since then and the printable didn't survive, I thought I would make my own version to share with all my lovely caffeine-lovin' readers this week!

Behold.

Can I let you all in on a secret?

I'm writing a book.

Well, that's not really the secret, y'all already know I'm working on a novel... two actually.  One historical fiction and one fantasy / sci fi... I switch back and forth depending on how I'm feeling.  I like to keep things complicated interesting, haha!

The "secret" book is one I'm planning to self-publish, as an ebook.

Encouraging Quote Printable - We Either Make Ourselves Strong or We Make Ourselves Miserable - Carlos Castanela - Free Inspirational Print

Looking for wall art to add to your gallery or just to decorate on the cheap?? FREE inspirational, motivational, encouraging printable - be proactive - choose happiness - choose joy and purpose, DIY quote printables - Carlos Castanela - "make ourselves strong or make ourselves miserable, the amount of work is the same"

As you are all aware from last week's Friday Frivolity -- theme, "Inspirational Quotes and Printables" -- I've been trying to stay focused on my goals and priorities by scattering visual encouragement on my walls.  There were several quotes I WANTED to share last Friday, but I wasn't crazy about the way they were formatted or presented.

Soooooo, I kinda figured I would have a go at making my own inspirational, minimalist, typographical printables to share with y'all instead.  Get excited!!

Coffee Nook Free Printables + Rental and Dorm Friendly Wall Hanging Hack - Decorating With Masking Tape!

Round Up of Free Coffee-Nook Printables + Nails-Free Decorating Hack - Masking Tape! Rental and Dorm Friendly, via Devastate Boredom

This is just a brief post ("Brief?" you whisper to one another when you think I'm not watching, "CAN she be brief?" ;P) to share some free printables I've been enjoying lately, and the rental-friendly nails-free hack I've used to hang them.

My husband and I are in a season of life that involves a lot of moving, and will likely continue to involve moves for another couple of years (oh me...), so printables are perfect for adding to our decor in a non-permanent, non-bulky-for-packing kind of way.  While some of you in a more settled stage of life might look askance at my method of hanging them, it's perfect for a rental or dorm room where you don't want to leave a lot of nail marks, and would also be handy for testing out a gallery wall arrangement for a period of time before commencing with the hammering.

The hack is simple -- use masking tape to create a psuedo-frame around the item to be hung.  I left the edges hanging off because I liked that look, but you could also cut it more precisely for a cleaner look.

It works great!  No falling down, even with the huge poster you see above, and no nail damage.  Perfect for a rental, a dorm room, etc.  Here the lighter colored standard masking tape works nicely because of the contrast with the dark walls.

Below is our "coffee nook" (yes, our current kitchen backsplash is basically a mirror... weird huh?) decorated with the awesome "but first, coffee" printable from Chicfetti, which I found originally through the Goddess of Printables, Vanessa at Little Gold Pixel.  I had it in my head that I wanted to hang this one with black masking tape, but according to the people at Target and Home Depot, there was no such thing in existence.  Amazon thought otherwise though -- black masking tape there is only $4.46 with free prime shipping!  I'll clearly be updating this post soon with a black tape boarder.  ;P  They also have a slightly fancier black "artist tape", for $8.75.

This printable makes me happy!  And because of the simple way I've displayed it, it is also easily interchangeable... lucky thing too!  Because there are a ton of other awesome options out there, and I like to keep things fresh.  Click through to see a few of my other favorite coffee-related free printables that will likely soon be in rotation...
