Is it really that big a deal to soap up your legs with shaving cream or conditioner (yes, that is a life-hack that totally works!) before shaving?  No, it's 100% not a big deal.  It takes, like, eight seconds, right?

But somehow the combination of winter and pregnancy had been making it very, very, ridiculously unlikely that I would ever shave my legs again until the baby's debut in April / May.  And not only did I suspect that my husband would be less-than-enthusiastic about my Sasquatch legs, I myself was also rather unhappy with the prospect.*  However, I was also too lazy / pregnancy-clumsy to bother to soap up my legs and proceed with shaving as usual.

Are you thinking, "#FirstWorldProblems, cry me a river"?  Well, on the one hand, that's completely valid... but on the other hand, you HUSH, this is MY blog post and I'm PREGNANT...  ;P

Enter these lazy girly razors.  SO WORTH THE SPLURGE, at least in this moment of my life...  Wet the weird blocky top, and shave away.

I feel human again.

Facebook Yardsale Groups

If you have noticed you've been hearing from me a little less lately, it's because I've been totally distracted by this crazy huge world of Facebook Yardsale Groups and all the amazing and completely random deals you can find there...

It all started when I was trying to figure out the baby-registry thing -- another post is in the works all about the diabolical marketing psychology behind this whole idea of "baby registries" in the first place... those baby companies are devious I tell you!  Devious! -- and also doing a lot of research about avoiding toxins, etc, in baby products.  THAT is an unending, twisting rabbit trail that can quickly become expensive if you let it, let me tell you!

In the midst of all this, I started pondering how I really and particularly hated the idea of putting an infant tub on my registry.  Those things are $20-40!  It's a big chunk of plastic that holds water and is angled so your baby's head stays up while you're washing him / her... and it's $20-40.  *frugal me shudders*

Then I came across one of these baby tubs (used, obviously, but how easy it is to wash out a chunk of plastic?) on a Facebook Yardsale Group that I had joined last year and promptly forgotten about.

It was $5.

It was all down-hill from there, in a totally money-saving way...

I got a Boba Wrap for $10!  And it was actually a cute print I would have bought in the store even if I had options!

And two brand-new prenatal workout DVDS for $5!

And four baby swaddles for $5!

And a nursing-cover for $5!

Am I sounding a little frenzied yet?  :P

I would be worried about going completely overboard, but since my new price-point seems to be $5 it's pretty likely my new preoccupation with Facebook Yardsale Groups will "police" itself, haha. Not to mention that I am still super picky about brands / reviews / toxins, so thankfully that will also help modulate the obsession... cuz "obsession" was probably a pretty accurate adjective there for a minute, rofl.

Yay for saving money!  Boo for more time on facebook, which isn't exactly in line with some of my New Year's Resolutions... *rolls eyes*

Anxiety-Reducing Music

I posted this on my facebook group a while back now, but it's still SO worth a listen!  Here's the article about the science behind the anxiety-reduction effects of the music... the piece was composed specifically to achieve that purpose, which is fascinating to me!

I think I'll just play that and my favorite Steven Halpern music on loop while I'm in labor. 😜  Worth a try anyway...

Those are a few things on my mind lately... what have you been pondering, discovering, or excited about lately??

PS  If you don't already follow me on facebook, come by and say hi!  In addition to keeping you apprised of any new blog posts, I also post funnies and uplifting flotsam and jetsam throughout the week... like the song above.  If your facebook feed looks like mine right now, you probably could use more smiles and warm fuzzies!  I'll do my best to help devastate your boredom with positivity. 😉

* more power to you if you don't shave your legs!  I bow to those liberated ladies embracing the oh-so-natural state of fuzzy calves.  You save money, you save trouble, and I wish I was one of you.  But for me, this is one habit that is too deeply engrained to be worth the bother of kicking...  *sighs at conventional self*

Here are some of the places you might see this post partying!

  3. Ummm I HAVE to shave my legs. Maybe you're right, it's a cultural thing ingrained too deeply but it really bugs me even in the winter! So I'm glad you found a product that makes it easier, those finds are amazing. Where you use it and rejoice! And maybe your frugal facebook group baby finds can help finance your lazy girl razors? J/k you deserve it anyways. :)

  4. Lol, Sarah Eliza! I gave up shaving my legs years ago, and never looked back!!
I do still shave my pits, I'm not an animal!
Oh yeah, baby stuff could cost a fortune! Good for you to go down the gently used road!!

  5. I'm with you on the yard sales! If you could get something of equal quality for a fraction of the cost why wouldn't you? So many baby things that get sold on there aren't even used. They're just gifts from a baby shower or something they tried once or twice. Babies outgrow things so quickly anyway. #fridayfrivolity

  6. Those Facebook yardsales will get ya! And then they don't let go. I'm in like five groups now. The best part? I haven't bought anything, but I feel like I HAVE to look. Buying second hand baby stuff is the way to go though. Great post!

  7. LOL, Sarah, I so enjoyed reading this. I hardly ever shave in Winter. Summer yes, Winter no. I figured that the extra Sasquatch-y layer will keep me warm. I'm not sure if hubby agrees, but that's my theory and I'm sticking with it. Wishing a stress free, music filled week with lots of bargains

  8. your hilarious! And yes you are almost due for a baby and i am glad you found a way to not feel so hairy. it is way to hard to save in the first place with a large ball stuck to your belly. I was so huge (everything protruded forward) with my third that I couldn't even read the steering wheel let a lone shave.

  9. I think I'm going to just try blaring that music during the next toddler melt down. That will be a true test of its effectiveness. For both my children... and I! Lol! #FridayFrivolity
