Fantastic Product for People Who Love Essential Oils! Review of the Carrier Stick, Solid Base Oil / Moisturizer - Great Gift or Stocking Stuffer!

Carrier Stick, All Natural, Easy Essential Oil Base Application, reviewed by Devastate Boredom.

I don't know if you have noticed, but essential oils are SUCH a big deal right now.  Lots of people are responding to the growing awareness of how toxic many home and personal care items are (check out the Skin Deep database if you don't believe me!) and are flocking to essential oils for air freshening, home remedies for minor ailments, skincare, bug repellents, cleaning, and more.  I love it when trends actually fit with my green-lovin', minimalist lifestyle!  ;P  (linking to some examples, but there are soooo many resources out there if you're interested)

I've been dabbling in essential oils myself for about six months, mostly sticking to Aura Cacia's organic line, because once you start thinking about how much of an herb/plant has to be distilled down to get that little bottle of essence (read: A LOT), you might decide you aren't crazy about all those plants being saturated with neurotoxins...  *shudders*

I have the "basic" essential oils:  lemon, clove, cinnamon, rosemary, eucalyptus (ingredients in the "five thieves" immunity boost solution -- I used the recipe here), tea tree (cleaning), lavender (soothing/sleeping), and peppermint (headaches).  I enjoy playing chemist by mixing and matching the scents for aromatherapy, and I do think I can see results when I use them therapeutically too.

There are lots of things you should be aware of when you're starting to use essential oils, so do some research and definitely read the outside of the bottles for any specific warnings.  You will also want to do extra research if you have young children in the house, since little bodies can react differently to some substances than larger bodies will.  However, one of the things you will figure out quite quickly even if you haven't done any research (oops) is that some oils are "hot" -- meaning they can sting when applied undiluted to skin.

You can use basically any kind of oil as a "base" for your topic essential oil concoctions -- essential oil gurus frequently recommend using fractionated coconut oil*, but in the past I've mostly used either regular coconut oil* or jojoba oil myself.  Both of those have worked fine, but it always took a few minutes to get it all mixed up, measured, etc, and sometimes required a little clean-up from dribbles.  (sing with me, "all the clumsy ladies, all the clumsy ladies... put your hands up!" That's how that song goes, right? ;P)  Not the end of the world, but also not the most convenient, especially if you're in a hurry.  Hmmmm....

Hurray for smart people inventing innovative new products!  "The Carrier Stick" is a simple, convenient way to apply a base oil as needed, without bothering with measuring and mixing liquids.  It is a solid base oil that quickly softens on contact with skin, and is neatly contained within a tube for easy application.

The Carrier Stick contains only all-natural, richly nourishing oils:  Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Sweet Almond Oil, and Vitamin E Oil.   And application couldn't be easier!  You twist to raise the level of the product, swipe to apply, add your essential oil of choice and rub to mix.

Speedy, tidy, and super moisturizing for your skin too!

Other "awesomes" about the Carrier Stick include that it is made in the USA and was invented and marketed by a mom of three -- go go small businesses and female entrepreneurship! As for the cons...  I haven't found any yet for this product!  I do think that maybe that it could use a snappier name though, since "Carrier Stick" just doesn't seem to fully describe how HANDY and SMART it is, and how much it will be appreciated by all the essential oil lovers out there!

You can find more information and purchase Carrier Sticks online here, or on Facebook here.  They run $14.99 for a single unit, or buy a bundle to get more bang for your buck!  It is a great product, whether you're buying it for yourself to make life a little easier, or buying a bunch to give as gifts this holiday season!

Big thanks to Jessica at Carrier Sticks for providing me with a complimentary product to try out in exchange for my honest review!

*the difference between fractionated coconut oil and "regular" coconut oil, in case you're wondering, is that the fractionated kind won't harden when it gets cold out.  That's all.
