Free Music Madness: Tracks from Jesca Hoop and Daphne Willis

Right now Vanguard is offering two free downloads from emerging artists Jesca Hoop and Daphne Willis. Actually, it's probably not fair to call them emerging, since I know for a fact that Jesca Hoop has been around for a while -- I saw her concert when she was opening for Josh Ritter four or five years ago. Anyway, if you like quirky indie music, check them out!

Free Music Madness: 14 Great Tracks of Classical Guitar! aka, now our week will HAVE to be relaxing, right?

Amazon currently has fourteen great tracks available for free download on their From Classic to Celtic: Relaxing Guitars sampler album. This one is AWESOME! It combines all my favorite things -- classical guitar, Celtic music, and relaxation! ;P

I'm listening to it even as I type. <3 I'll keep you posted on whether it succeeds in making my week more relaxing...

Friday Frivolity: Theo Jansen's Kinetic Sculpture

...actually, I'm not sure whether this one qualifies as "frivolity."  Its level of "entertaining" and "intriguing" warrant a mention in spades, but frivolous it is not. Witness... my new favorite thing.

The comparison to DaVinci seems pretty apt to me! If you want a little more, here's the BBC clip that introduced me to Theo Jansen to begin with. I couldn't find it on youtube to embed it directly. Enjoy, and happy Friday!
