Free Music Madness: New Josh Ritter MP3!

Did you wonder where I'd gone?  I'm still here, juggling the various aspects of life.  This student teaching gig takes work, I can tell you that.  However...  free music!  Yay!

I rave about Josh Ritter regularly enough that I imagine some of you will start to recognize his name even if you didn't know of him previously... but I hope you did!  He's a really fabulous singer/songwriter, and crafts his lyrics beautifully.

You can currently get a free download of the Wallpaper remix of his song "The Remnant" over on the Filter website.  Obviously, since it's a remix it's not quite the typical Josh Ritter sound, but its very worth snagging and adding to your collection.  Enjoy!  :)

Free Music Madness: a Non-Corny Valentines Day Mix & Classic Soul from Aretha Franklin

Whether you're the kind of person who cringes at the thought of the pink-and-red sentimentalism of Valentine's Day, or basks in the warm glow of each lacy card and chocolate, the music lover in you is going to want to stop by and download Amazon's free Valentine's Day mix.  From Secondhand Serenade to Drive-by Truckers, from Band of Horses to a ton of others that I think I should have heard of but haven't (blame grad school), you'll find an eclectic mix of love songs with nary a gooey cliché in sight.

And for a voice that never goes out of style, also make sure to pick up Aretha Franklin's "Trouble In Mind" -- originally released in 1962, but digitally remastered and offered temporarily for free download.

Free Music Madness: Sounds to Sooth and Calm

Whew!  I don't know about you, but my January was non-stop, and it looks like my February will be the same!  If you could do with a moment to breath and relax, you need to check out the New Year New You sampler currently available for free download on Amazon.  There you'll find ten downloads of instrumental and world music meant to create some soothing space within a busy day.  I'm definitely appreciating it over here...
